Frederick Jerome Ditewig, 89, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at Bay Harbor Assisted Living in Suamico on June 10, 2017. He was born December 6, 1927 in the Town of Nasewaupee to Conrad and Esther (Gunderson) Ditewig. On November 15, 1947 he married Donna DeLair in Sturgeon Bay, she preceded him in death on December 3, 2012.
Fred was a Boilermaker by trade and worked for numerous power and nuclear companies. He also sailed on the Great Lakes and worked at the local shipyards. Fred enjoyed tinkering with old cars and fixing lawn mowers. He was proud of his Ford cars. His pride and joy were his granddaughters. He was a member of the Boilermaker union and of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his son, John “Jack” (Nancy) Ditewig, Sturgeon Bay; two granddaughters, Andrea (Eric) Straehl and Monica (Tom) Johnson; a great- grandson, Easton Johnson; a sister, Delores Monfils; a brother-in-law, Albert Wagner; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Joyce Wagner, and a brother, Conrad “ Hilton” Ditewig.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 14. 2017 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Wednesday until time of services. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in his memory.
