Darlene M. Rohr

September 18, 1940 ~ March 26, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Darlene M. Rohr, 75, Brussels, passed away peacefully with family by her side Saturday, March 26, 2016, after a battle with cancer.  Darlene was born in Milwaukee on September 18, 1940. Her family moved several time before making Sturgeon Bay their home.  Darlene was a graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School in 1958.

Darlene married Vernon “Tim” Rohr August 19, 1967, at Salem Lutheran Church.  She also served as a local school bus driver for many years at Southern Door Schools.  She loved being a part of everyone’s lives.  She would always share her many stories and adventures of being a bus driver. Darlene was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She will be greatly missed by her family.  Survivors include her two sons, Todd Rohr, Brussels; Kevin (Steffanie) Rohr, Sturgeon Bay; four step-children, Blaine (Karen) Christiansen, Green Bay; Brenda (Mark) Galbraith, Pound; Barry (Barb) Christiansen, Appleton; Brian (Lynn) Christiansen, Sobieski; grandchild, Kayden Rohr; step-grand-children, Brice (Jenny) Christiansen, Jordan Christiansen, Dallas Christiansen, Corey, Phillip, Josh, Ritchie, Ali, Casey and many great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Elean Weckler, Sandy Raynier, Donna Rodney, Carol (Edmund) Blise, Joanne (Jerry) Kimber, Darold (Audrey) Hembel and Lester “Chuck” (Pam) Hembel; sisters in law, Ione Anderegg, Arlene Rohr and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Tim” Rohr, her parents, Lester and Mamie Hembel, brothers in law, Donald Rodney, Harold Anderegg, Richard “Buddy” Rohr, Gerald Weckler, Dick Raynier and several beloved nephews.

Darlene was a very outgoing individual, who loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed being outdoors, from hunting to sports.  She was always full of stories, as everyone enjoyed hearing them around the campfires.  She was always full of laughter.  Her children and grandchildren were her greatest prides.  Darlene loved watching them participate in sports. She was often found playing baseball or shooting a game of pool.  As her children grew, the grandchildren knew they were loved by her everlasting hugs and smiles.  And even as a grandma, she would be playing blocks or trucks on the floor, jumping in a puddle or simply reading a book to them. Darlene endured every moment possible.  Her kind and outgoing nature never went unnoticed.

Memorial Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church, the Rev. John Seelman officiating.  Friends may call at the church after 10:00 a.m. Saturday until services.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A special thanks to Unity Hospice, Rev. John Seelman, and the medical care members for their loving care and support they gave to Darlene.
