Walton Henry Mathison, 90, of Clay Banks, passed away at his home on March 30, 2016.  He was born on December 11, 1925, in Door County to Henry and Olga (Jome) Mathison.  On February 19, 1949, he married Nina Uecker in Forestville, she preceded him in death on January 16, 2004.

Walton graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1943.  He enjoyed farming all of his life in the Town of Clay Banks, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Walton had pleasure in planting crops, trees and watching them grow.  Walton was a long-time member of Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three children, Carolyn (Francis) Peeters, Peshtigo; Allan (Becky) Mathison, Sturgeon Bay; Mary Jane Kieper, Green Bay; four grandchildren, Michael (Stacy) Peeters, Kaukauna; Julie (Brad) Baumann, Oshkosh; Scott and Emma Mathison, Sturgeon Bay; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Michaela Peeters, Matthew, Mason, and Mia Baumann; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina; infant son, Gary; one brother, Burton Mathison; and three sisters, Eunice Roble, Vivian Doede, and Yvonne Sawyer.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church with Rev. Bruce Pangborn officiating.  Burial will be in the Tanum Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church.
