What a remarkable man, I wish I had known him. I share his love of sailing and his birthday (mine 29 years later). May God bless him on his journey as he did in his time on earth.

Many good memories and 30 years of morning coffee at Sisters, Pudgy Seagulls and lots of good stories. Bob made a mean jar of jam and we were lucky enough to enjoy many jars. Bob was a good friend, it is hard to lose someone like that. So sorry for your lose and our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Uncle Bob was the only person who could sneak venison by me at a barbecue...what a chef! The fish pan he invented made it with me to Alaska and back and still sees regular use...I think of him every time I use it, and invariably end up remembering all the times I set his head shaking with bawdy songs around the fire pit...great memories of a wonderful man! Love to all the family!

Wolters,
Personality Plus would best describe how I remember your father. I must have made a visit in early 2000, and besides seeing Mr. Wolter's lovely home on the Bay, I was fortunate to have been 'schooled' in what I think may have been a game of euchre. Anyone would aspire to have lived such and interesting life, and I'm sure you have many stories to tell and re-tell as you gather to celebrate and reminisce. June and I are thinking about you.

I'm so glad you had the pleasure of meeting my Dad all those years ago, Dan. He was an absolute psychic when it came to ANY card game...he was very tough to beat. Fun, fun memories all around!

Mr. Wolter was a great presence along the Bay Shore Drive where my family had a summer home for many years. He was warm and funny and fun. One time he brought a dish filled with rabbit liver pate that knocked the socks off everyone present. I liked how you could look out the front and always see a sailboat anchored out in front of the Wolter empire.

One 4th of July we tried to take that holding by force with bottle rockets and beer but got nowhere and were beaten back by warriors with better aim. One of our number fell and succumbed to warm rum toddies and the attention of all those Wolter boys. To this day I remain suspicious of her intentions. But I digress.

I believe Mr. Wolter is a quintessential representative of everything that is fine and wonderful about Sturgeon Bay. That spirit lives on in all his children and grandchildren+. Smooth sailing, sir.

We are sorry to hear of Bobs passing. Spuds and the Wolter family go back a long time through shipbuilding and many stories were told about the good ol days. Bob gave us some movies of old christenings a few years back and when the cousins get together we sit and watch. Such good memories for our children to see of their grandparents. Your father was a special person that will always be remembered. Our sincere sympathy to your families.

Thank you so much, we were so lucky to have such a wonderful Dad and Mom too! He was definitely one of a kind and gave us so much thru his knowledge and experiences. Lots of love, laughter and happiness and chores too. I worked with your Dad in the old buildings, I even knit him a hat one Christmas and he actually wore once I think...haha. I respected your Dad and loved him as well, he was part of our family-part of that time. I am so happy Dad shared those tapes with you, we both have such good memories don't
we! Thanks again for sharing...Barb

I am blessed with 30 years of good memories of this man (and his dear Katie). Besides being loads of fun, he was a terrific card-player! I will miss him and hope his family takes some comfort in knowing that others care.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Mary Ellen! They both loved you very much, and, BTW, you're a pretty good card player, too ; )
