Sincere sympathy to all of Muriel's family. Muriel was a classmate of mine at Brussels High School, Class of 1947. I didn't know many of my classmates as a freshman, but Muriel was always friendly to all of us. In later years we e-mailed each other and sometimes I would see her at Mass in Maplewood. May she rest in peace.

A cornerstone of the "Cloverleaf" neighborhood, Muriel was truly the first cancer survivor I ever knew. A hard-working, industrious woman with a caring and generous heart, she certainly made the most of her "second act" in life. She left the world better than she found it, and I can't think of a better legacy to leave that that.

It really was a pleasure to get to know, and care for Muriel when she moved in to Pine Crest. Her goal was to get stronger and more independent each day. She gave her all.
