Helen Jeanette Buechner, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on November 12, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.  She was born on August 17, 1928, in Sturgeon Bay to George and Susanna (Tansing) Walther Sr.  On September 4, 1949, she married Jerome Buechner at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay, he preceded her in death on April 24, 2012.

After high school, Helen worked as a buyer for Prange’s.  She later worked with her husband as a secretary for Larson Sanitary Equipment, a business they owned and operated for many years.  Helen was a long-time and active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two children, Becky Buechner and Mark Buechner, both of Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren, Andy, Josh, and Matt Buechner, and Jessie (John) Smith; one brother, George (Elizabeth) Walther, Sturgeon Bay; and one brother-in-law, Royce Johnson, Appleton.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Jim Buechner; and two sisters, Hazel (Myron) Laubenstein, and Georgette Johnson; sister-in-law, Patsy Walther.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Joel Sauer officiating.  Inurnment will be in Schumacher Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday.  Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
