Sandra L. Pierre

Sandra Lynn Pierre, 72, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2023, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.  She was born April 22, 1951, in Milwaukee to Raymond and Dorothy (Hansen) Schmitz.

For many years Sandy worked for Emerson Motors in Sturgeon Bay.  Most recently, she was employed by Hart & Hart Boutique in Fish Creek where she made many friends.  Sandy enjoyed volunteering on the Miss Door County Pageant committee for numerous years.

Sandy’s family was everything to her and no matter the distance, she always found a way to make them feel special.   She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she loved attending all their activities and extracurricular events. Her great-grandchildren affectionately called her “Gigi”. 

She is survived by four daughters, Stephanie Van Duyse, Green Bay; Jamie (Peter) Claflin, Forestville; Danielle (Tom) Pierre, Brussels; Heather (Lance) LaVine, Sturgeon Bay; 10 grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler, Hunter, Austin (Alysha), Jensen, Ryan, Harley, Zachery, Finley and Adley; 2 great-grandchildren, Blake and Lincoln; sister-in-law Kathy Schmitz; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jim Schmitz, and a son-in-law Don Van Duyse Jr.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Salem Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Door CANcer Inc. in her name.
