Raymond Kaminski

September 23, 1935 ~ August 24, 2015 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Raymond N. Kaminski, 79, Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully at his home early Monday morning, August 24, 2015.

He was born in Rosholt, Wisconsin, the youngest of twelve, graduated high school at age 16 and joined the National Guard, serving for six years and achieving the rank of sergeant.  Ray moved to Milwaukee where he worked for Wisconsin Bell, earning his radio license and becoming a plant supervisor.  There, he married Joanne Marsh in October of 1958 and they had three children.  A fourth child was born shortly after they moved to Sturgeon Bay in May of 1964.  Ray was active in the Catholic Church, holding the position of Holy Name President for many years.  He was an enthusiastic and committed member of the Sturgeon Bay Lions Club for fifty years, serving as President and earning the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for leadership.  He served on Sturgeon Bay City Council for six years.

Ray was a farm boy at heart and loved the outdoors and nature.  He was a kind man who fed the rabbits, birds and squirrels and enjoyed his garden.  He was knowledgeable about fruit growing and took pleasure in teaching others what he learned.  Ray served as superintendent of Fruit and Vegetables at the Door County Fair for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; four children: Julie (Chad) Harrison, Troy, MI; Jenifer (Michael) Catalano, Los Angeles, CA; Joe (Ann) Kaminski, Sturgeon Bay; Jeff Kaminski, Vail, CO; He also is survived by five grandchildren: Andrew and Alex Harrison, Katie Kaminski and Nicolas and Mia Catalano.

A family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to the Sturgeon Bay Lions Club.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
