Charles “Spike” Peterson, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on November 24, 2015. He was born on March 17, 1939, in Chicago, IL to Clarence and Myrtle (Dalstrom) Peterson. On December 4, 1959, he married Sandra Lee Willis in Park Ridge, IL.
Spike and his family owned and operated Columbine Originals Galleries in Door County for many years. He and his family were artists and craftsmen creating a variety of artwork. Spike also had an active interest in auto racing and go-carting with his son and grandchildren. In his retirement, he worked part-time at Door County Ace Hardware in Sturgeon Bay.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Jennifer (fiancé, Mike Woldt) Fairchild, Sturgeon Bay; Lizabeth (Brent) Schultz, Rockford, IL; David (Liz) Peterson, Oak Park, IL; five grandchildren, Caitlin and Zachary Fairchild, Logan and Hailey Schultz, and Caroline Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Dustin and Spenser Schultz; and a sister Barbara Anderson.
A gathering celebrating Spike's life will be held on June 5th at Otumba Park in Sturgeon Bay from 12-3 p.m.
