Susan L. Baus

Susan L. Baus, 45, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Oct. 17, 2023.  She was born March 5, 1978, in Roselle, IL to George and Seig (Venclovas) Hoeppner.  Susan spent most of her childhood in the Chicago area until 1992 when she moved with her parents to Rochester, MN.

Rochester immediately became her home.  She attended John Marshall High School and then went on to Luther College in Decorah, IA.  There, she met the love of her life Brian Baus.  Brian and Susan lived all across the country in their early years together, ultimately settling in Door County for the past 18 years.  Her passions included traveling, baking, photography, and the outdoors.  Susan was currently employed as the Campus Office Administrator at the Technical College in Sturgeon Bay.  

Survivors include her husband, Brian; mother, Seig Hoeppner, Rochester, MN; stepbrother, Robert Hoeppner; aunt and uncle, Mary and Lee Kubowicz; aunt, Peggy Herman; mother-in-law, Cathi Baus; brothers-in-law, Chad Baus and Gary Scanlon, Adam and Lizzy Baus, and Matt Baus; nieces, Elaina Hoeppner and Maggie Mae Baus; and nephew, Barrett Baus.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Hoeppner; uncle, John Venclovas; and father-in-law, David Baus.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, WI.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday.  A second memorial service will be held in Rochester, MN at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been made through the NWTC Foundation https://www.nwtc.edu/about-nwtc/nwtc-foundation-makes-college-possible/give-now designation other- Susan Baus Memorial.
