Roger Carmody Obituary

Roger Lee Carmody, 61, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at Bellin Hospital with his loving wife by his side on September 14, 2021.  He was born October 8, 1959, in Algoma to Gordon and Elda (Strege) Carmody.  On Jan. 13, 2014, he married Qi Zhang in Sturgeon Bay.

Roger worked as a welder at Bay Ship Building for a number of years before starting his own construction business.  He liked sharing the knowledge of his trade with his new employees. 

Roger loved restoring old cars, particularly his 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special.  He especially enjoyed working on trucks and cars in his shop with his son Charlie.   Roger also enjoyed travelling with his wife, having travelled to China, Cancun, and the Dominican Republic.

He was a great neighbor who was always happy to plow his neighbors’ driveways in the winter.  He also loved his furry friends, Buddy, Boo, Joey, and Yuki.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Eric (Cassie) Carmody, Kari (Paul) Bright, Charlie Carmody (special friend Danielle); step daughter Courtney Shen; six grandchildren, Patience, Will, Tatiana, Ryann, Tyler and Pyper;  eight siblings, Susie Phillips (Duane), Rosemary Lesperance, Sally (Gerald) Malvitz, Merry (Roger) Deprey, Gordon J. (Diane) Carmody, Patti Antholt, Jean (Mark) Krueger, Bonnie Carmody; sister-in-law, Rose Carmody;  numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Albert “Butch” Carmody and brother-in -law David Lesperance.

A celebration of his life will be held at his home on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 2:00  p.m. until ?.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
