Robert "Bob" Hunsader Obituary

Robert “Bob” Hunsader, 70, passed away at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.  He was born June 4, 1950, to Robert and Marie (Daubner) Hunsader in Sturgeon Bay, the third of six children.  Bob went to St. Joseph Catholic School through eighth grade, and it was there where he earned the nickname “Rumpy,” which stuck with family and many friends throughout his life.  Bob graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School, a member of the class of 1968.  On June 22, 1974, he married Nancy Balza at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brussels.

Bob was a hard-working man that brought a bit of fun and laughter to any job.  He held various jobs through his lifetime until his retirement from Hatco Corporation in 2012.

Sports were a significant part of Rumpy’s life – from participating in baseball, bowling, and golf – to coaching youth sports.  He was an avid sports fan and follower of the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.  He enjoyed listening to Golden Oldies Rock’n Roll, taking drives, and going to the casino in the hopes of hitting it big on the slots!

Being a dad was one of his greatest joys, which only expanded with the addition of each grandchild.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 46 years; children: Cory (fiancé Portia Owens) Hunsader, Denver, CO, Ryan (Danielle) Hunsader, Fishers, IN, and Kristy (Pat) McGrath, Owatonna, MN; grandchildren: Bailey, Camryn, Leela, Rowan, Clayton, Judian, Paige, and Mason; siblings: Barb Hanrahan, Sturgeon Bay, Paul (Patti) Hunsader, Littleton, CO, Linda Mengert (John Neuville), Sturgeon Bay, Patti (Todd) Scherer, Sturgeon Bay; in-laws: Carol (Ed) Price, Mary (Mark) Tlachac, and Cheryl (Stan) Sanger; Godchildren: Carrie Herlache, Matthew Donley, Heidi Hunsader; Godmother Betty Koutsky; nieces, nephews and many friends that blessed his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marie, brother William Hunsader, parents-in-law Elmer and Clara Balza, and brother-in-law Frank Hanrahan.

Due to COVID, there will be a private family service held at St. Joseph’s Church on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm.  Family and friends are welcome to view the service live on the Forbes Funeral Home Facebook page.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. The funeral can be viewed for those not able to attend on the funeral home's face book page under videos. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.  On line condolences may be offered on Bob’s obituary page at forbesfuneralhome.com

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare heroes that cared for Rumpy during this difficult year.
