Robert M. “Bob” Olson, 89, of Forestville, passed away on January 24, 2021, at Door County Medical Center. On March 10, 1931, he was born on the family farm to Melvin and Clara (Viste) Olson. Robert graduated from Algoma Highschool in 1948. On September 7, 1957, he married Lila M. Maedke in Algoma. Bob was a life-time member of Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church where he served as the congregational secretary for many years and sang in the choir. Bob was an ordinary seaman for International Harvester aboard the ship “International” and was employed in shipbuilding for many years at Christy Corp. and retired from Palmer Johnson.
Survivors include his wife Lila; one brother, John (Dianne) Olson, of Forestville Township; two sisters, Carol (Edward) Krueger, Forestville; Marian (David) Schultz, Grafton; sister-in-law, Judy Olson, Sturgeon Bay; and numerous special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alan, Gerald (Elaine), Roy, and infant brother, Donald; three sisters-in-law, Edith (Ben) Chemel, Muriel (Frederick) Walther, and Marjorie Maedke; two infant brothers-in-law, Orland and Leroy.
Public visitation will be on 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Private family services will follow with Rev. Peter Mannoja officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. The service will be live on the Forbes Funeral Home Facebook homepage at 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday.
