Peggy A. Kain, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, died Wednesday February 22, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Peggy was born March 13, 1939, as the youngest of eight, in Eagle River Alaska, daughter of Frank and Margaret Worden. In 1935, Frank and Margaret homesteaded in Alaska along with five young children, before having three more Alaskan born. Peggy’s parents returned the family to Wisconsin in the early 1950’s.
On August 22, 1959, she married Jerome H. Kain in Appleton. Peggy had various jobs until the birth of her children. While living in Sturgeon Bay she worked at the Bank of Sturgeon Bay and for the School District of Sturgeon Bay. Peggy retired in 1996.
Peggy was a beloved and devoted mother who loved golfing with her husband (boasting 2 Hole-in-Ones during their many rounds), hiking and enjoying the outdoors in both Door County and St. George, Utah. She was Jerry’s constant copilot on many adventurous road trips. Peggy also enjoyed painting in various forms and photography of the nature and birds she loved so much.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jerry, son Jeffery of Fort Wayne, Indiana and daughter Stacey of Crystal Lake, Illinois; two sisters, Joyce Osborn of San Antonio, Texas and Pat (Bill) Smudde of Milton, Florida, sisters-in-law, Patsy Worden of Appleton and Pat Worden of Appleton, brother-in-law Bruce (Diana) Kain of Appleton and many uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jack, Ronald, Kenneth and Richard, sister Lois Burns, and brother-in-law James Kain.
