Mercedes Deakin Obituary

Mercedes B. Deakin, 92, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at her home on August 26, 2021. She was born July 4, 1929, in Illinois to Joseph and Vera (Silim) Basco. Mercedes married Harry Deakin, he preceded her in death on December 4, 1982.

Mercedes enjoyed gardening, hiking, kayaking, knitting, traveling, and quilting. She was a member at the Family Worship Center. Mercedes enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Survivors include her four children, Debra (George) Matiasek, Illinois; John Deakin, Georgia; James Deakin, Sturgeon Bay; Joseph (Julie) Deakin, California; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special friends, the Bamberg family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry and a daughter Cathy Deakin.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Burial was in Hainesville Cemetery.
