Obituary
Marie T. (Schinkten) Anderson, age 102, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on June 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Antoine) Schinkten, was born December 5, 1920, in Sturgeon Bay. Marie was a 1938 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School. On August 7, 1948, she married Kenneth (Stutz) Anderson at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, he preceded her in death on September 28, 1988.
As a military family, they experienced many moves, including Germany; she and Stutz returned to Sturgeon Bay in 1978 to enjoy their retirement. They enjoyed many winters in Panama City Beach, Florida. Marie enjoyed many wonderful times spent with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing cards. She was a member of Neighbor to Neighbor, Women of Faith, Retired Persons Club, former member of the De Pere VFW Auxiliary, and the hospital Hearty Conditioning program at the YMCA until age 99. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Sturgeon Bay.
She is survived by 5 children; Terri (Bob) Lang, Mark (Betsy) Anderson, Scott (Ann) Anderson, Pete (Lisa) Anderson, Sue (Dale) Crass, daughter-in-law, Lynn Gilchrist, nineteen grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, and recently welcomed her first great great grandson, Judah. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Hank, 5 brothers, and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Matthew Rappl officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. Donations may be made to Neighbor to Neighbor, St. Joseph’s Parish, or Unity Hospice.
