Laurie Kaye, 60, of Brussels, passed away suddenly on August 18, 2023. She was born Jan. 14, 1963, in Menomonie, WI to Robert and Emogene (Leach) Hickcox. On August 24, 1985, she married David G. Kaye at St. Francis Church in Brussels.
Laurie lived on the family farm for 32 years. She had worked for Door County Memorial Hospital, DeKeyser Lumber, Q-Mart and was currently working at the Door County Co-op. She liked working where she could talk to people and learn what was going on in the county. Laurie loved music and going to music festivals. She actually met her husband David while at a Hodag festival.
Laurie enjoyed motorcycle rides and traveling around the country. She also loved snowmobiling, camping, flower gardening, watching T.V., doing crafts, working on home improvements, and setting up her Christmas Village during the holidays. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandson.
Survivors include her husband, David; 3 children, Dana (Fiancé, Brian Hewitt) Kaye, Pomfret, VT; Cody (Kyanna Francour), Kaye, Brussels; and Eli Kaye, Brussels; 1 grandson, Isaac Hewitt; 1 step-grandson, Ian Hewitt; brother, Robert (Laurie) Hickcox, Menomonie, WI; sister, Debbie Nichols, Baldwin, WI; sister-in-law, Evangeline (Larry) Kaus, Delafield, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Harold and Doris Kaye; brother-in-law, Daniel (Noretta) Kaye; and great niece, Olivia Peterson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, August 28, 2023, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. A prayer service is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
