Joan Ann Maurer, 85, Brussels, passed away on August 7, 2024, surrounded by family in Luxemburg. She was born to George and Mary (Hecker) Dollar on April 15, 1939, in the Town of Rockland in DePere. She attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from East DePere High School. On August 30, 1958, she married Richard “Dick” Maurer at St. Francis Parish in DePere. They lived in DePere and Green Bay until 1969 when they moved to Brussels. She worked at Mill Printing in DePere and then at Door County Coop for 12 years until her retirement in 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; four children, Jim (Nora) Maurer, Julie Bockhop, Mike (Tammy) Maurer and Scott Maurer; ten grandchildren, Willie Bockhop, Ben Bockhop, Chelsea Dantoin, Samantha Maurer, Melissa Myers, Alexa Maurer, Nina Konowsty, Zach Maurer, Max Maurer and Dylan Maurer; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Lancensti and Leona Binding; two in-laws, Marilyn (Steve) Hotshkiss and Pat Henning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Melvin and Lucille Maurer; five sisters, Arlene Thomas, Angela Roffers, Elsie Kraynik, Gladice Dinng, and Janice Henning.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Francis and St. Mary Church, Brussels with Rev. Rex Palaya officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. and the church on Saturday until the time of services. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
