Jo Ann Irene Bissen (nee Debold), 81, of Brussels passed away November 24, 2022, with her husband, Ivan at her side. She was born on June 6, 1941, in Hokah, Minnesota to Lloyd and Irene Debold. She graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic School in 1958 and married Ivan Bissen on October 17, 1959.

Jo Ann lived a life of many passions including gardening, cooking, canning and painting. For many years she volunteered her time sharing her love for painting at the Door County Senior Center. But the guiding force of her life was undoubtedly the love and care she showed every day to her family. Jo Ann spent many summers at their cabin in the mountains of Wyoming and wintered by the sandy beaches of Marco Island, Florida. 

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ivan Bissen; her son, Rick (special friend, Peggy) Bissen of Brussels; and daughters, Sharon Patterson of Sonoma, CA; Marie Murphy of Durango, CO; and Patti (Tim) Bissen-Taylor of Brussels; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and her sister, Carol Jean Debold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Irene Debold; brother-in-law, Michael Bissen; and daughter-in-law, Denise (Pierzchalski) Bissen.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 Thursday, December 1, 2022, at St. Francis and St. Mary’s Parish in Brussels with Rev. Edward Looney officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Forbes Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Thursday.  A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
