Janet Rader Obituary

Janet M. Rader, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Oct. 27, 2021.  She was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Door County to Walter and Grace (Halverson) Seiler.  Janet was baptized on Mar. 18, 1934, and confirmed on Nov. 9, 1947, by Rev. Walker at Forest Lutheran Church in Carnot.  On Jan. 10, 1953, she married Jennings J. “Jocko” Rader who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2019.

Janet will always be remembered as a loving, kind, thoughtful and compassionate person who was always willing to help anyone who needed anything.  She was a long time and active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she enjoyed serving on the Shepherding Committee. 

Janet was the “ultimate” homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling and reading books.

She is survived by 3 children:  Cynthia (Jack) Gigstead, Sturgeon Bay; Scott Rader, Sturgeon Bay; and Stacy (Hans) Maricle, Fox Crossing; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey Gigstead, Sturgeon Bay; Christina Gigstead, New York City; Briana (David) Sikir, Chicago; and Brittany (Greg) Rader, St. Louis, MO; brother John Seiler and sister-in-law Keitha Seiler-McDonald, both of Sturgeon Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Jim Seiler and sister-in-law Joan Seiler.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Burial will be in Schumacher Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service.
