Gerald Sleger Obituary

Gerald J. Sleger, 92, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Oct. 15, 2023, at Pine Crest Village.  He was born Aug. 18, 1931, to Matthew and Julia (Korneck) Sleger.  On Sept. 19, 1951, he married LaVerne Cisler in Manitowoc.  She preceded him in death.

Gerald played the accordion and keyboard at flea markets all over the country.  He also provided musical entertainment at the EAA Air Venture for 29 years.  Gerald was an avid fisher man and had a true inventor’s spirit.  He loved tinkering on all kinds of projects.  Gerald appreciated the hope the Scriptures offered and often shared that hope with others.

He is survived by 2 sons, Donald (Dyan) Sleger, Green Bay; and Robert (Laura) Sleger, Sturgeon Bay; daughter Donna (Jim) Collett, Crivitz; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, Tillie Sleger, Emma Pelischek, Julia Karlin, Mayme Mraz, Louis, Quiren, Albert, James and Joseph Sleger.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sturgeon Bay.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the Kingdom Hall on Thursday.  Burial will be at Hainesville Cemetery.
