Evelyn M. Mueller, 94, of Sturgeon Bay, died on June 7, 2022, at Sturgeon Bay Health Services. She was born Aug. 22, 1927, in West Jacksonport to Carl and Matilda (Fischer) Luethge. On Sept. 25, 1948, she married Virgil A. Mueller in Egg Harbor. Together they raised four children.
Evelyn was the church organist for many years at Calvary United Methodist Church in Egg Harbor and at the United Methodist Church in Jacksonport. She also played the organ for countless weddings and funerals. For many years, Evelyn was very active in the Order of the Easter Star, serving a term as Worthy Matron and Grand Organist. She was also a past member of the Homemakers Club and volunteered as a pink lady at Door County Memorial Hospital.
In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed reading, writing, crossword puzzles and trivia. She was passionate about genealogy and enjoyed sharing family history with her nephew Gerald Schopf during his many visits with her.
Survivors include 3 children, Sue Rumlow of Oshkosh; Doug (Teri) Mueller of Green Bay; and Sandi (Michael) Smith of Sturgeon Bay; daughter-in-law Chris Mueller; grandchildren: Angela (Matt), Timothy (Martha), Ryan, Hilary (Steven) Travis, Heather (Jeremy), Derek (Angela), Alexis (Tyler), Arica (Tim), and Evan (Alexis); great-grandchildren: Clarissa, Lila, Wyatt, and Grant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Randy, son-in-law Harv, granddaughter Jennifer; brother and sisters, and very best friends Ben and Althea Logerquist.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Monday June 13, 2022 at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 1:00 pm until an Eastern Star Service begins at 1:50 pm. Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
