Ellamae Helen Sternard, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 18, 2023, at Aurora Bay Care in Green Bay. She was born Nov. 26, 1942, in Sturgeon Bay to Vernon (Pearl) Konrad Sr. On March 26, 1960, she married Wenzel R. Sternard at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Valmy. He preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 2016.
While raising their family, Ellamae worked at the Red Room and operated a cab business with her husband. For 28 years, Ellamae and Wenzel owned and operated The Stein Bar and Grill on Oak Street.
Survivors include 3 children, Jeanne (Perry) Popour, Todd (Julie) Sternard, and Penny Sternard, all of Sturgeon Bay; 6 grandchildren, Philip Popour, Kaitlyn Popour (Fiance Andy Worochek), Joe Popour, T.J. Sternard, Katie Jo (J.V.) Bosman, Karli (James) Edgerton; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandchild Brayden, 2 brothers, Vernon (Carol) Konrad Jr., Daniel Konrad, sister Donna Eicher, and in-laws.
A visitation for friends and family will be held at the Forbes Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm when the family will leave for graveside services at Bayside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
