Ella Mae Maccoux Obituary
Ella Maccoux, a resident of Brussels, peacefully passed away at home on November 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 11, 1937, to George and Clara (Denamur) Kinnard. On September 28, 1957, she married the love of her life, Vincent Joseph Maccoux.
Ella worked at Fort Howard for a period after graduating from Brussels High School. Later, she served as a receptionist for Dr. Gorectke in Algoma and later worked at The Rushes for 10 years. Additionally, during her younger years she dedicated time to helping serve food at church after funeral services and enjoyed serving breakfast to the elderly in Brussels, while also serving as a poll worker during elections. All the while, Ella worked diligently to manage her household and raise six children.
One of her travel highlights was a trip to Belgium and France. Ella found joy in playing cards with friends and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ella was characterized by her caring, and hardworking nature, strong faith, and organized nature. She was a great cook and a wonderful wife and mother. In her own words, her husband and children were “the loves of her life”.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bellin Hospital, Unity Hospice and Maureen, Denise and Angela from Home Instead Senior Care for their care, support, and compassion during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank David Marsh for providing eucharist to Ella at home on a weekly basis.
Survivors include her six children: David (Karen) Maccoux, Randy (Debbie) Maccoux, Dan (Cathy) Maccoux, Phil (Carla) Maccoux, Lori (Rick) Huebner, and Jeff (Oscar) Maccoux; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Gary (Sandy) Maccoux; sister-in-law, Yvonne Maccoux; brother-in-law, James Wanek and sister-in-law Linda Kinnard.
