Elias Guillen Obituary

STURGEON BAY—Oscar Elias Guillén passed away suddenly due to Covid on Friday, November 13, 2020 in Brussels, WI. Elias was born in Madera, Chihuahua, México on May 29, 1937 to Erasmo and Maria (Estrada) Guillén. On January 17, 1970, he married Maria Francisca Morales at the Catholic Church in Las Varas, Chihuahua, México. In Las Varas, Elias owned a billiard hall, farmed corn, and was recruited to play baseball for traveling teams. He was an excellent pitcher and shortstop.

The family moved to Egg Harbor, WI in 1986. Elias was extremely responsible and hard working. He worked in the cherry and apple orchards in Door County for many years. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his radiant and contagious smile.

Elias is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Francisca (Quica), and their children, Roberto (Cathie), Marco (Amy), Omar (Amy), and Arianna (Sam Counard). He is the proudly devoted grandfather of Jacob, Joshua and Vanessa Guillén; Ana and Marco Olson Guillén, Jr.; and Christian and Madyson Counard. Elias is also survived by 4 brothers and 1 sister, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Throughout his life, Elias (Abuelito, or Lito for short) loved watching his kids and grandkids participate in all kinds of sports and activities. He was their number one fan. Elias was a devout Christian and always gave thanks to God for his blessings. He is fondly remembered by many friends in the Door County community and beyond. His family misses him greatly and will cherish all of the wonderful memories with him forever!

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
