Duane C. Olson

Duane Clarence Olson, 85, of Brussels passed away at Aurora Bay Care in Green Bay on June 7, 2023, surrounded by his family.   He was born June 26, 1937, to Clarence and Mae (Karnitz) Olson in Gladstone, Michigan. 

On May 11, 1957, he married his childhood sweetheart, Karen Ann Vandertie at St. Michaels Church in Misere.  Duane worked for many years at Proctor and Gamble in Green Bay.  He was an avid golfer and played at The Woods Golf Course with the same group of guys for many years.  On a beautiful day, Duane took his last swing on hole #1 just before he passed away, which is exactly how he would have wanted to leave this world.

Duane enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Packers, was an avid reader and loved doing puzzles and Sudoku.  Duane especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved singing to them, dancing with them and following all of their activities and events.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife Karen, six children: Tim Olson, Tod Olson, Tammy Hill, Troy (Laura) Olson, Terry (Kathy) Olson, Travis (Jennifer) Olson; daughter-in-law Jill Olson; 12 Grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Reitter, Brittany (Tony) Herbst, Luke (Katie) Olson, Lacey (Brandon) Borkovetz; Jordan Olson, Chelsae (Matt) Bisceglia; Finis III (Grace) Hill, Sawyer Olson, Paige Olson, Kayla Olson, and Maiya Olson and Joe Olson; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Don (Judy) Olson and sister Mary Ann Guilette.   He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Joe and Lillian Vandertie, and a brother-in-law, Glenn Guilette.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 11, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. then after 9:00 a.m. on Monday until the time of service.  Entombment will be at Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Green Bay.
