David Baumann Obituary

David A. Baumann, 73, of Sturgeon Bay died peacefully, surrounded by family on September 24, 2021.  He was born September 27, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Catherine Baumann.  David graduated from Pius XI High School, class of 1965.  Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in the Military Police.  After the military, he married Jean M. Lahr in 1969.  They eventually retired to Door County, Wisconsin and recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.

David’s extended education includes an Engineering Business Management Degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering (1974), a B.A. in English from UW-Milwaukee (1979), and an MBA in International Focus from Marquette University (1999).  David worked at Allis Chalmer’s starting in 1968, as a data processing computer operator.  A self-made man, he quickly moved up the ladder and became vice president of information systems for Miller Brewing Company from 1980-2006.  David’s other proud accomplishments include being a volunteer fireman for Elm Grove, Wisconsin and working with the DNR on how to manage and enhance his Tree farm at his property he called “Carlena”.

David was an avid reader and fisherman.  He loved hunting with his brothers in “Carlena” and embarking on boating adventures with his wife Jean and their miniature dachshund, April.  David had an insatiable appetite for music, from eclectic to the well-known.  He also loved to kayak.

Survivors include his loving wife Jean; grateful children, Jennifer (Wayne Sr.) Day, Brian Baumann, Catherine Baumann (Michael), Magdalen Baumann, and Patrick (Rebecca) Baumann; loving grandchildren, Nathan Baumann, Olivia Baumann, Wayne Day Jr., Patrick Baumann, Riley Greenmeier, and Marlin Baumann; his mother, Catherine A. Baumann; eight siblings, James (Cheryl) Baumann, Susan (Jack) O’Leary, Peter (Cheryl) Baumann, Karen (Vito) Lucido, Robert (Dawn) Baumann, Charlene Takeuchi, Patrick (Kathleen) Baumann, and Michelle (Eric) Severson.  He was preceded in death by his father.
