Arnold E. Germain Obituary
Arnold Edward Germain, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at home on August 26, 2025. He was born July 11, 1937, in Chicago, IL to Sylvester and Ruth (Trapp) Germain. On Jan. 26, 1980, he married Judith Pieper at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Joliet, IL. They moved to Door County full-time in 2008, to the home in Nasewaupee that had been built by Arnold’s parents in the 1940’s. Arnold loved looking at the bay from his porch and smoking his pipe.
During his life, Arnold had many careers. He was a stockbroker at Merril Lynch and Mutual of New York, restaurant owner (My π, then Arnold’s, a deep-dish pizza restaurant in Glen Ellyn, IL and Boulder, CO), realtor at Coldwell Banker, home builder in Plainfield, IL, and building inspector for the city of Bensenville, IL. He retired as building inspector for the DuPage Housing Authority, IL.
In his retirement, he re-engaged with his stockbroker history, spending time watching CNBC and managing his own stock portfolio. He was always a creative person, having done copper works, ceramics, and paintings. In retirement, he did woodworking, creating many beautiful wood carvings and reliefs.
Arnold could fix anything and create solutions to any building problem. As a result, he was known as “All Around Arnold” at the DuPage Housing Authority. He enjoyed listening to books on tape, most recently on his phone through Libby, and listening to Sirius XM Radio Classics. Arnold was also a Master Mason, his father being a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by 3 children, Arnie (Sue) Germain of Plainfield, IL; Linda (Tony) Brazzale of Plainfield, IL; and Cynthia (Monica Ramirez) Germain of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 3 grandchildren, Alan Germain, Jeremy Brazzale, and Sarah (Evan) Jaramillo; and sister Deardra Lindsay of Fort Wayne, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judith (2021), 2 sons, Douglas and Gary, sister Charlene Germain, and brother-in-law George Lindsay.
