Arbutus Clarabell “Arby” Sacotte 95, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, at Door County Medical Center Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born at home on July 3, 1927, in Gardner to Joseph and Merceda (Herlache) Derenne. On January 11, 1944, she married Ellsworth D. Sacotte in Sturgeon Bay, he preceded her in death on March 11, 2002.
Arby worked for Bay Shipbuilding for 24 years as a welder. She enjoyed singing, dancing, and listening to country music, especially the Birmingham Country Show. Arby also enjoyed quilting and sewing and making blankets for her grandchildren. She cherished watching and taking care of both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two children, Colin Sacotte, Sturgeon Bay; Candy Birmingham, Sturgeon Bay; three grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Sacotte, Donny (Patti) Birmingham, Holly (Steve) Lehmann; six great-grandchildren, Kayla (Kyle) Weber, Nick Lehmann, Keith Lehmann, Jack Birmingham, Sam Birmingham, and Courtney (Matt) Sacotte; one great-great-grandson, Seeley Weber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carren Sacotte; daughter-in-law, Donna Jean Sacotte; son-in-law, Spike Birmingham; sister, Darlene (Norbert) Schulties; and a brother, Richard Derene.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Forbes Funeral Home Tuesday, June 20, 2023, with Deacon Paul Zenefski officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Brussels. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
