Alberta Ida Grovogel, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Nov. 21, 2022, at Anna’s Health Care (Bay View Senior Care) in Sturgeon Bay. She was born June 1, 1935, in Sturgeon Bay to Albert and Emma (Werkheiser) Klansky. On Dec. 10, 1955, she married John Grovogel at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2015.
Alberta was a very hard worker and talented seamstress. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Doerr Electric for 13 years and also picked apples and cherries. She loved cooking, canning, crafting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her passion and priority.
Survivors include 6 children, Susie (Kenneth, deceased) Greig, Bellingham, WA; Kathryn (Bruce) Doar, Appleton; Daniel (Carol Belongia) Grovogel, Sturgeon Bay; John (Mary Hafeman) Grovogel, Forestville; Mary (Robert) LaLuzerne, Forestville; Gary (Pamela Siegmund) Grovogel, Algoma; 12 grandchildren, Troy, Heather (Jared), Ashley, Rhett (Heather), Travis (Holly), Jessica (Jason), Jacob (Jenny), Jamie, Nicholas, Heidi, Aaron, and Jeffrey; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Ralph Klansky, Baileys Harbor, sister-in-law Jean Klansky, Sturgeon Bay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Kenneth Greig, 2 brothers, Gerald (Vera) Klansky and Albert Klansky, sister-in-law Lorraine Klansky.
Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 at the Forbes Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 28, at 10:30 am. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
