William "Bill" Reed Obituary

William “Bill” Reed, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at his home on December 18, 2018.  He was born June 30, 1936, in Green Bay to Alfred and Marguerite (Engels) Reed.

Bill graduated from East High School in Green Bay and then attended UW- Madison where he earned his bachelor’s degree.  He married Jacquelyn Liedeka on August 25, 1989, in Green Bay.

Bill was a health inspector for the Green Bay Health Department for many years.  In 1994, he and his wife retired to Door County, where he cleared the land on a lot they bought and used the logs to build the log house they live in.  He and Jackie enjoyed many winters in Florida.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who spent years hunting, fishing, golfing, cutting wood, and watching the wild life on his property.  He always looked forward to the family “happy hour” where he could tell stories and share tales of family history.  Bill always took great pride and interest in making sure that all family projects were done “the right way”.

Survivors include his wife Jackie; one son Tim (Lynn) Reed, Green Bay; daughter-in-law Amy Reed, Green Bay; six grandchildren, Alek, Ari, Samantha (Tyler) Brock, Timmy and Mitchel; four great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Reed of Florida; in-laws, Patrick and Mary Liedeka, and Joan and Dennis Philibeck; two stepchildren, Steve Schafer of Tennessee; Heidi Schafer (Eddie Levin) of Washington; two step-grandchildren, Teal and Zian; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Kelly Reed; sister Anne Martin; and a stepson Rick Schafer.

A private family service will be held at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Door County.
