Virginia (Paque) Kreft

October 24, 1925 ~ June 20, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Virginia (Paque) Kreft, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on June 20, 2017, at Cardinal Ridge CBRF.  She was born October 24, 1925, in Sturgeon Bay to Louis and Clara (Prevost) Paque.  On June 18, 1947, she married Marvin G. Kreft, he preceded her in death on December 20, 1993.

Virginia graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1943 and from the Door-Kewaunee Normal Teaching School in 1945.  She also attended St. Norbert College and Oshkosh State College.  Virginia taught grade school for many years for numerous schools in the Southern Door County area including: Four Corners, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Stokes and Corpus Christi in Sturgeon Bay.

Virginia was a member of Corpus Christi, a trustee and board member of the local Catholic Financial Life, and was also a communion distributor and parish council member at Corpus Christi for a number of years.  She also volunteered for the Red Cross.  Virginia appreciated her neighbors and enjoyed the friendships she and her husband had with them throughout the years.  Virginia loved her profession as a teacher and always talked about how much her students meant to her. 

Mom had a very strong Catholic faith which provided her with great comfort and guidance during her life.  She prayed the rosary every night and always had her prayer book with her no matter where she was.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Mohr, Sturgeon Bay; Sonya (Douglas) Jorns, Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren, Mike (Kristen) Mohr, Nick (Jessica) Mohr, Jacquelyn (James) Grady, Jason Jorns; her “Austrian Grandchildren”, Kerstin and Christoph Brùˆeller; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Mohr and Kylie Mohr. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert Kreft; son-in-law, Pete Mohr; siblings, Elmer Paque, Gladys (Edward) Columb, Evelyn (Carl) Boedecker, Dolores (Merle) Claflin, Reta (Art) LaLuzerne, LaVonne (Robert) Weckler, and Elmer Paque; and in-laws Raymond and Shirley Junio.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.  A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
