Roland Bochek

April 15, 1928 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Roland R. Bochek, 89, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.  He was born April 15, 1928 in Valmy to Rudolph and Anna (Arbter) Bochek.  He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.  On October 17, 1953 he married Alois Polecheck, she preceded him in death on June 6, 1973.  On November 2, 1984, he married Judy (Schmiling) Kerscher at Maplewood.

Roland farmed in the Valmy area for many years.  He also worked as a foreman at Christi Corporation and Bayship Building for 42 winters.  Roland was a member of the Forestville-Maplewood Lions Club, the Door County Historical Society, a founding member of the N.E.W. Antique Power Association, the Bayship Building Retirees Club, and Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church.  He also enjoyed reading and working as docent at the Maritime Museum.

He was a gentle man who will be sadly missed by his wife of 33 years, his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; his children, Ronald (Angela Billerbeck) Bochek, Ralph (Becky Gosser) Bochek, Karl Bochek, Julie Jennerjohn, all of Sturgeon Bay;  Judy’s children, Debbie (Carl) Schmidt, Brussels; Susan (David) Nufer, Indiana; Anthony “Chip”  (Tammy) Kerscher, Fremont, WI; Jennifer (Mark) Skvara, Green Bay; grandchildren, Jery Bochek, Randy Bochek, Nick Bochek, Samantha Irons, Elijah Bochek, Hannah Billerbeck, Alexa Jennerjohn  and Anthony Jennerjohn, Nicole Bretl, Christopher Miller, Emilee and Michael Kerscher; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Josie) Bochek, Sturgeon Bay; two sisters, LaVerne Bochek-Robins, Oneida; Beverly Preston, Fond du Lac.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two sons, Randal and John Bochek; a grandson, Andrew Billerbeck; a sister, Vivian Haen and several in-laws.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood.  Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.   Burial will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Institute.
