Mary Jane Francis Tala, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on September 13, 2017, at Sturgeon Bay Health Services.  She was born October 16, 1926, in Chicago to Benjamin and Genevieve (Powell) Novotny.  On July 19, 1952, she married Thaddeus J. Tala in Chicago. 

Mary Jane worked as an R.N. at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Chicago for many years.  She and her husband retired to Door County in 1991.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Mary Jane Tala, Chicago; Ted (Linda) Tala, Brookfield, IL; David Tala, Chicago; Martin (Judy) Tala, Chicago; three grandchildren, Teddy Tala, Ryan Tala, and Michael Tala; a nephew, Jim Novotny, Hoffman Estates, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Benjamin (Marian) Novotny; and one sister, Lorraine (Frank) Konfrst.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Forbes Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
