Mary A. Englebert

February 25, 1939 ~ July 8, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Mary Ann Englebert, 78, of Brussels, passed away on July 8, 2017.  She was born Feb. 25, 1939 in the Town of Brussels to William and Anna (LeGrave) Virlee.  On April 9, 1958 she married Donald J. Englebert in Brussels.  He preceded her in death on April 26, 2015.

Mary Ann graduated from Brussels High School in 1957.  She and her husband dairy farmed in the Town of Brussels for many years.  She was very proud of her Belgian heritage and enjoyed baking Belgian pies and cooking other Belgian foods.

Mary Ann was also a great writer and teacher.  She had a big heart for people and spent much of her life caring for others.  Mary Ann had a strong faith in God and prayed the rosary often.  During her life, she was active in numerous organizations including the Christian Women’s Society, Belgian American Club, Door County Historical Society, Northeastern Wisconsin Frontier Famers, and the Namur Historical Foundation.

She is survived by 4 children, Christine (Mark) Rockendorf, Brussels; Vicky (Bill) Herlache, Sturgeon Bay; Kevin Englebert, Brussels; and Angela Polk, New Orleans, LA;

9 grandchildren, Zach (Stacey) Rockendorf, Hannah (Jay) Delwiche, Lucas (Laura) Rockendorf and Ethan (Holly Sevrin) Rockendorf, Kyle and Olivia Herlache, Camaria, Dominique and Christopher Polk; 4 great-grandchildren, Avery, Deacon, Jaxon, and Beckett (and Baby Rockendorf “on the way”); 2 sisters, Joan Mott and Theresa Stanul; brother, Kenan Virlee; 3 brothers-in-law, Ronald (Patsy), Gerald (Janice), David (Dixie) Englebert; and sister-in-law, Janice (Leonard) Zittlow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Deborah; 2 sisters, Sister Arlene Virlee and Madona (Lee) Mahlik; one brother, Thomas (Karen) Virlee; a brother-in-law, Bob Mott; 3 nieces, Lynn Bouche and Leah Virlee, and Brenda Kipp.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday July 15, 2017 at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  Burial will be in St. Francis Church Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of mass.  A prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
