Jerome Micolichek Obituary

Jerome A. Micolichek, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on June 11, 2018 at Door County Medical Center.  He was born on Dec. 24, 1930 to George and Margaret (Sipiorski) Micolichek in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Jerome served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957.  On Aug. 20, 1955, he married Katherine Marie Williams at Holy Trinity Church in Pine Grove.   For over 30 years, Jerry worked in shipping and receiving for Super Value Stores in Green Bay.  He also worked as a valet for St. Vincent Hospital for 18 years.

Jerome knew the fruits of hard labor as a young man running the family farm as the eldest. The focus of his entire life was to preserve family and raise his own family in a loving, compassionate and strong manner. He actively practiced his faith as a Catholic and enjoyed summer picnics, booyah and, of course, he never passed up homemade desserts.

He enjoyed spending summer vacations camping all over Wisconsin but mainly in the northern woods. His passion for working with his hands led to many handmade projects. He enjoyed snowmobiling, being outdoors, building tree forts, restoring a Cherry Red 1966 Mustang and reusing parts to fix things around the house and yard.

His supportive and protective love of family will live on in our hearts.

A gracious thank you is extended to the staff of DCMC and Unity Hospice for their care beyond expectations and attention to all our needs as we navigated a pathway to God and peace for him.

Survivors include his wife, 5 children, Margaret (Barbara) Micolichek, Belfast, ME; Cynthia (Tony) Micolichek, Minneapolis, MN;  Patrick (Connie) Micolichek, Fort Collins, CO; Michelle Gibson, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Jennifer Micolichek, Anchorage, AK: 2 grandchildren, McKenna and Jared Gibson; 4 sisters, Elsie Gruzinski,  Green Bay, WI; Elaine (Bernie) Verheyen, Green Bay, WI;  Sally (Jim) Guns, Green Bay, WI;  Carol (Ken) VanLanen, Green Bay, WI;  a brother Arnold (Carol) Micolichek, Green Bay, WI; sister-in-law Lorraine Cotter; niece Debbie (Stephen) Hauseur; numerous other nieces, nephews, and god-children.
