Harold F. Lindhorst

December 6, 1932 ~ July 22, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

 

Harold Fredrick Lindhorst, of Sturgeon Bay, beloved husband of Mary (Tordt) Lindhorst was called to his heavenly home on July 22, 2017.  He was born on December 6, 1932, in Wolsey, S.D. to Frederick and Fernanda (Lenz) Lindhorst.

 He graduated from Wolsey High School and attended Lutheran Teacher’s College in Seward, N.D. graduating in 1961, with a B.A. in Elementary School Education.

 He married Mary Catherine Tordt on August 9, 1958, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL.

 Harold taught at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Rockford, IL for 15 years and was then called to be principal and 8th grade teacher at St. Martin’s Lutheran School in Clintonville, WI where he remained for 3 years.  He also sold AAL Insurance, sold cars for 2 businesses and was also a security guard for JJ Security working at P.B.I., Bay Ship, Emerson Motors, and Door County Memorial Hospital for 15 years, all in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

 Harold taught confirmation classes at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Rockford, IL, and St. Martin’s Lutheran School in Clintionville, WI, and also directed the adult and children’s choirs.  He was very active at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay, WI teaching Sunday School, directing the children’s choir, singing in the adult choir for many years, planning and teaching adult bible classes, serving on various boards and serving as a visitation elder visiting shut-in’s in their homes.  After his retirement, he remained an active member and helper when needed.  He also thoroughly enjoyed his time singing with The Choraliers group for many years, especially when his son, Paul joined the group.

 He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Pastor Paul (Carla TenEyck) Lindhorst, Watertown S.D.; Sarah (Phillip) Weidner, Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Angela (Eugene) Dennis, Ellen (Christopher) Boyette, Stephen (Janet) Lindhorst, Aaron Lindhorst, Jesse (special friend, Kerrianne Konrad and Eli) Sanchez, Courtney (special friend, Jeff Lautenbach) Weidner, Bethany (Mike) Lee, Alexander (special friend, Whitney Vig, Aiden and Olivia) Sanchez, Jordan (special friend, Maria Marlen) Lindhorst, Andrew (special friend, Aubrey Shields) Sanchez, Austin (special friend, Kaylen Stafford) Weidner; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Domonic and Corina Proia, Miguel May, Kairi Mazanet, Madelyn Lautenbach, Owen Lee, Sammy, Scarlett, and Penelope Lindhorst; and a great grandchild “on the way”; siblings, Adeline Jungemann, Florence Adermann, Ruth (Stanley) Pakulla, Bunny Tordt, William (Billie) Tordt, Sheila (Roy) Tordt and much loved and dearest friends Vernon Siekmann family.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Lindhorst; infant brother; brothers-in-law, Alfred Jungemann, Raymond Adermann, Nichalos Garbis, and Steven Tordt.  mother and father-in-law, Mildred Sanders Tordt Griffin and Lorne Griffin; grandchildren, Grace Franklin, Anthony Franklin and Melissa Weidner; great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose Proia.

 Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Friday July 28, 2017, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Carl Schroeder officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church on Friday.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran School and Church.
