Gerald Schmidtke Obituary

Gerald Frederick Schmidtke, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Sturgeon Bay Health Services on Feb. 2, 2018. He was born July 25, 1935, in Sturgeon Bay to John and Dora (Wolske) Schmidtke. On June 17, 1967, he married Rosalie Rickert in Milwaukee. Gerald worked at Bay Shipbuilding for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife, 4 sons, Peter (Ginger) Ostrowski, Two Rivers; Alan (Ana) Ostrowski, Oak Creek, WI; John Schmidtke, Sturgeon Bay and Gerald H. (Lisa) Schmidtke, Sturgeon Bay; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ken Schmidtke and Larry (Ann) Schmidtke; a sister, Joanne Kintopf; sister-in-law, Janice Schmidtke; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Norman and Ronald Schmidtke; a brother-in-law, John Kintopf; 2 sisters-in-law, Janis and Marlene Schmidtke; and his faithful dog Molly.

Private family services will be conducted at Bayside Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Inurnment will follow.
