Daniel George Obernberger, 80, of Brussels passed away on May, 16, 2018 at his home. He was born May 15, 1938 in Park Falls, WI to George and Lucy (Peissig) Obernberger.
Dan served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. On June 20, 1978 he married Barbara Jean Raymond at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay, WI. He worked as a foreman for many years at Bay Shipbuilding and also for Peterson Builders Inc.
Dan loved hunting, fishing, bluegrass music and welding. He especially enjoyed visiting and “B.S.ing” with friends and family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, 8 children, Carrie Obernberger, Mark Obernberger, Kelly Obernberger, Debbie (Jeff) Jeanquart, Cindy Jansen, Mark (Veronica) Malvitz, Jackie Liebhart, Brian (Tena) Hartwig; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister Nettie Szymik, sister-in-law Wynette Obenberger; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Lorna (Kenneth) Roohr, Marjorie (Earl) Franke, 2 brothers, Ted Obernberger and Merlin (Lorraine) Obernberger and brother-in-law Emil Szymik.
A memorial service with military honors will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for visitation. On line condolences may be offered at www.forbesfuneralhome.com.
