Willard “Bill” Sperber, 92, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Golden Living on May 11, 2016. He was born on May 31, 1923 in Nasewaupee to Emil and Amanda (Schmidt) Sperber. On June 24, 1944, he married Verna Wierschke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma.
After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, Bill welded in the shipyards for a number of years. Most of his life, he drove milk truck for Lake to Lake Co-op. Bill loved playing cards and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Verna, 3 children, Sandy Groth, Green Bay; Sue DeGrave, Green Bay; and Scott (Suzanne) Sperber, Sturgeon Bay; son-in-law Dick Beschta, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, sister Margaret Karnopp, Sturgeon Bay; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruth Fish, Delores Clark, and Joyce Clark; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sherry Beschta, son-in-law Lee Groth, brother Elton (Mabel), sister Ruth (Ralph) Viste, in-laws, Bernard Fish and Henry Clark.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. Peters Lutheran Church with Rev. Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peters Lutheran School.
