We share the sadness of this loss with Nancy, family, and all who have known Maurie over the years. I have made a point to listen to his joyful organ at the close of services at the church in Sturgeon Bay when I am able to attend. I will mess that and will miss his joyful spirit and testimony. He shared his faith right to the very end.

Mr. Kurschner was a very positive influence in my life as a young church musician just beginning to play piano for Sunday services. He and I always had eye contact at the start of each hymn. If I smiled, he knew I felt confident, but if I looked nervous he would play the organ a little more loudly to cover up my mistakes. A big part of who I am as a pianist and teacher is due to the fatherly mentoring of Mr. Kurschner.

The heavenly choir will now have to sing a little louder and a little faster to keep up with their newest organist.

We will always remember Maury as an inspiration and man of God. We love your family and we pray for God to minister to you all in your times of sadness. We rejoice that he is healed and praising his Father in heaven.
