Laura Thelen, 93, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on May 5, 2017, at Door County Medical Center. She was born December 22, 1923, to Oscar and Minnie (Herber) Geidel in Campbellsport, WI.  On May 11, 1944, she married Ralph M. Thelen in Milwaukee, he preceded her in death on April 30, 1999.

Laura was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 72 years, and also a long time member of the Christian Mother’s Altar Society.

Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Thelen, Grafton; MaDonna Thelen, LaGrange, IL; Kristine Thelen, Milwaukee; two sons, James (Mary) Thelen, Cleveland, OH; John (Donna Rainwater) Thelen, Oceanside, CA; two grandchildren, Brian (Liz) Thelen, and Steven Thelen; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Rachel Thelen; other relatives, her Geidel cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, Mark, Peter, and Michael; one sister, Marcella Kohlwey; and one brother, Byron Geidel.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 9, 2017, at Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood with Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com.
