Larry Neville

March 20, 1933 ~ May 5, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Larry J. Neville, 84, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully after a brief illness on May 5, 2017, at Aurora Bay Care Hospital.  He was born March 20, 1933, in Green Bay to the late Harold and Martha Neville, and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.  Larry served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and had active duty in Izmir, Turkey.  On February 6, 1954, he married Verna Hieptas at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay and they enjoyed 63 great years together.

From a young age, Larry was full of energy. He was a born salesman.  He worked for Linpark Men’s Store and Sears Roebuck and Company for many years.  In 1973, Larry and Verna purchased Quietwoods Campground and later started Quietwoods RV Center in 1982.  Larry also developed Hidden Ridge Condominium Resort.

An avid bowler, Larry was a longtime member of the Tuesday Night Major League. One of his favorite times of the year was his annual trek to The Prime Quarter with his bowling buddies and with the RV reps after the RV Show. He also enjoyed Packer games, fishing with John Brownell and Jerry MacMillin, overnight casino trips, and taking cruises with his wife.  Larry was a Friend of Bill and enjoyed spending time at the 115 Club.  As a lover of animals, he was known to feed all the critters in the neighborhood.

Larry is survived by his wife, Verna; three children, Denise Neville, Sturgeon Bay; Christine (Michael) Marchant, Brussels; Steve (Holly) Neville, Sturgeon Bay; six grandchildren, Brenna, Kayla, Kody, Danica, Kailyn, and Gracie.  He is also survived by one brother, Harold Jr. (Mary) Neville, and one sister-in-law, Irene Neville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Neville, and Donald (Elaine) Neville; and a sister, Carol (Jerry) Klarner.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 9, 2017, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Birdsall and Abbot Gary Neville officiating.   Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Forbes Funeral Home and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com.

Larry’s family extends a special word of thanks to his good friend, Paul Georgia and his fiancé, Nicole Meyer-Krauel, the staffs at Algoma Long-term Care and Aurora Hospital, and to the numerous doctors and nurses who took such good care of their father during the past few years.
