Inga Elisabet Benson, 92, died April 2, 2018 at home. She was born March 11, 1926 in Roslags Kulla, Sweden to Karl-Eric and Elvira (Kvist) Bergstrom. Inga enjoyed working, was very interested in the natural world, and excelled in drama and sports. She flew to the United States in 1950 for adventure.
Inga married Nels Benson in 1955 in Rockford, Illinois and they had three children. They dairy farmed in rural Freeport until Nels retired. Moving back to the Rockford area, Inga began milk testing. Nels died in 1987 and Inga lived in New York and Minnesota before settling in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Inga was an active member of Family Worship Center and enjoyed baking, gardening, raising chickens, watching birds, reading the Bible, letter writing, and staying informed about the government. Even as her physical challenges grew, she began each morning thanking God for salvation and her many blessings, praying always for her family and the persecuted Church. We lost a precious mother, Mormor, aunt and friend, and heaven gained a beloved child of God.
Survivors include her three children, Ione (Mitchell) Dennis, Ingrid (John) Bamberg, Gibbar Benson, one daugther-in-law Julie Benson, twelve grandchildren, Anna (Victor) Joseph, Laura Dennis, Kathryn Dennis, Marie (Adam) Wigdahl, Ben (Anne) Bamberg, Paul Bamberg, Joe Bamberg, Rachel Pichette, Jorah (Cheyanne) Benson, Chloe (Nathan) Beard, Lauren Pichette, Jericho Benson, three great-grandchildren, Max Bamberg, Dallas Beard, Willow Beard, and Swedish cousins, nieces and nephews.
Inga was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one brother Gunnar Bergstrom, and one sister Marta Bertilsson.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people of Unity hospice for their support and excellent care for Mother.
Inga's memory will be honored during the Sunday, April 15, 10 AM Worship Service at Family Worship Center, 1715 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay.
