Harry Chaudoir

Harry J. Chaudoir, 89, of Rosiere died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Allouez Parkside Village in Green Bay. He was born February 25, 1927, to Harry Sr. and Hazel (Englebert). He married Helen Delorit on May 29, 1947. Harry served his country from 1945 to 1947 in the 78th Infantry Division at the end of World War II in the Allied occupation of Berlin. Harry was employed by the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation 1947-1989 and farmed near Rosiere. He was a member of St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, and American Legion Post 319.

Harry was the founder and President of the Peninsula Belgian American Club which has been very instrumental in reconnecting Americans of Walloon Belgian descent with ancestry and current relatives. Harry was conferred knighthood by King Baudouin of Belgium in 1977 in recognition of the many services to the Belgian community in the Peninsula area and towards the furthering of close ties between Belgium and the United States. He served as President of the Peninsula Belgian American Club from 1968 to 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, five sons, Philip, Green Bay; Gregory (Joan), Sturgeon Bay; Tony, Green Bay; Joseph, New Franken; and Steven (Jane), Rosiere; and two daughters, Kathryn (Richard) Pederson, Verona; and Mary (James) Moran, Appleton, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; his brother, David (Angela), Brussels; two sisters Mary Ann (Jim) Jeanquart and Donna (Hillard) DeKeyser, Green Bay. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa, his brother Remie, and his parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m.  Wednesday, June 29 at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Rosiere with Deacon Paul Zenefski and Rev. Steve Vanden Boogard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 3 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be conducted at 6:30 pm and a Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, both at the funeral home.
