Gerald Uecker

July 24, 1926 ~ April 7, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Gerald Uecker, 90, of Forestville, passed away at home on April 7, 2017.  He was born July 24, 1926 in Forestville to Walter and Esther (Draves) Uecker.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  On Aug. 27, 1955, he married Joyce Kramer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville.  She preceded him in death on May 7, 2000.

Gerald was proud to have lived on the Uecker family farm all of his life.  Early on, he farmed the land while also working in the shipyards.  He later worked as an electrician in the construction industry.  He was also the proud owner and operator of Uecker’s Acres Cherry Orchard, enjoying the relationships he had with his customers for 30 years.

During his life, Gerald served as the Forestville Town Supervisor and a longtime member of the Forestville Town Cemetery Committee.  Gerald was also an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was never more than a phone call away whenever something needed to be done or fixed.

Gerald was an avid bowler reaching his career high game of 233 at the age of 89.  He also enjoyed fishing in his spare time.  Gerald especially enjoyed a special relationship with his grandchildren, who looked forward to their time with him when they came to visit him on the farm.

Gerald will always be remembered as a kind, lovable man with an infectious laugh, who was easily able to connect with people from all walks of life.  He was loved and respected by friends and family, touching the lives of many during his 90 years.  He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Sue (Peter) Ernst, Brookfield, WI; Jane (James) Howard, Mukwanago, WI;  Sally (Thomas) Rich, Naperville, IL; and Scott Uecker, Milwaukee, WI; 7 grandchildren:  Alec, Cameron, and Jared Ernst; Dylan and Kayla Howard; and Taron and Lexis Rich; sister Velora Uecker; in-laws Nila and Robert Schley and Margaret Kramer.
