Gail Marie Walker

Gail Walker, 85, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 12, 2018 at Door County Medical Center.  She was born Jan. 7, 1933 in Gardner to Desire and Edith (Delsipee) Sacotte.  On May 30, 1952 she married Robert Walker in Brussels.

Gail attended Stevenson Pier Grade School and graduated from Brussels High School as Salutatorian.  She also attended the University of WI -Green Bay, St. Cloud Business College in Minnesota and classes at NWTC during her retirement.

During her life, Gail worked for Bunda’s Dept. Store, J.C. Prange Co., JC Penny in Des Moines IA and as a teacher’s aide in LaKeville, MN and Sturgeon Bay.  She retired from Honeywell Inc. in Plymouth, MN and then worked for Evergreen Nursery.

She was always an active member of any community she lived in belonging to numerous organizations throughout her life.  She was a president of the PTA, den mother for Boy Scouts, secretary for several women’s organizations, and the Sturgeon Bay Garden Club and an active member of Bay View Lutheran Church where she served on numerous committees including Christ Care.

Gail enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests including reading mysteries in grandma’s old rocker, biking, cross country skiing, Bible studies, gardening, listening to music, bird watching, taking pictures, crossword puzzles, scrabble and spending time with her family.  She was also a collector of brass, Santas, and antiques.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Dave) Wilson, Sturgeon Bay; 2 sons, James Walker, Jacksonville, AR; and Galen (Brenda) Walker, St. Paul Park, MN; grandsons, Adam (Nicole) Wilson and Skyler Walker; 2 great-grandsons Jacob and Connor Wilson; step-grandchildren, Trevor and Kyra Leonard; sister-in-law Arbutus Sacotte and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Nathan Wilson, sister Beulah Dart, brothers, Mervin (Mayme) and Ellsworth Sacotte, and brother-in-law Juluis Dart, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm.  A memorial service will be held at Bay View Lutheran Church on Monday at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
