Evelyn Dettman

August 22, 1925 ~ February 25, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

 

Evelyn Marie Dettman, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully at Algoma Long Term Care unit on February 25, 2017.  She was born August 22, 1925 in Nasewaupee to Clarence and Cebell (Krause) Weckler.   On October 30, 1947 she married Arwin Dettman at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, he preceded her in death on February 15, 1977. The passion in Evelyn’s life was spending time with her beloved family.

Survivors include three children, David (Lisa) Dettman, Evansville, IN; Barbara (Chris) Tlachac, Sturgeon Bay; Timothy (Yuka) Dettman, South Pasadena, CA; son-in-law, William Steckler, Houston, TX;  nine grandchildren, Kristen (Jonathan) Gluff, Samuel Sutton, Christopher (Sara) Tlachac, Jesse (special friend Kristi Smet) Tlachac, Logan (Terrie) Tlachac, Kai and  Kiana Dettman, Joseph and Nicholas Steckler;  three great-grandchildren, Quincy, Alexa and Caden; two sisters, Shirley Kinjerski and Carol (Ron) Antholt; four brothers, Sherwin Weckler, Sherwood (Ruth) Weckler, Darrel (Roxanne) Weckler, and Antone Weckler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Linda Steckler; two sisters, Sandra Weber and Isabell Kaye; three brothers, Roger, Clarence Jr. and Orville Weckler.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2011 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pastor Joel Sauer officiating.  Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
