Barbara Boatner Benson, 78, passed away in Sturgeon Bay on October 21, 2015. She was born May 2, 1937, in McAlester, OK to Roy J. and Lillie Opal Boatner. She lived in Pensacola, FL for 22 years before moving to Schweinfurt Germany. She taught school in Schweinfurt with the Department of Defense for 20 years before retiring in Sturgeon Bay in 2007. Barbara was an active member of the Altrusa Club of Door County.

She is survived by her three children: Philip Benson (Julie Borsodi) of Oberursel Germany, Dr. Beverly Benson (Dr. Pamela Farmer) of San Francisco, CA, Brenda Whalen (Dave Whalen) of Loveland, CO; two grandchildren Marina and Nicholas Borsodi-Benson; three siblings Walter Boatner, Phillip Boatner, and Darlene Lim.

Memorial services will be planned for this summer in Sturgeon Bay.
