Viola M. Chaudoir
(February 21, 1917 - May 1, 2012)
Viola M. Chaudoir, 95, Sturgeon Bay and formerly of Brussels passed away at Pine Crest Village on May 1, 2012, with her family at her side. She was born February 21, 1917 in the Town of Brussels to Prosper and Mary (Virlee) Baudhuin. On May 30, 1940 she married Lawrence Chaudoir in Namur. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1979.
Viola farmed with her husband for 40 years in the Town of Union, while raising nine children. She was known for her home cooking especially her home made bread and Belgian pie. Viola crocheted innumerable gifts for friends and family. She was a member of the Catholic Knights, Peninsula Belgian-American Club, and was known as the school census taker for the town of Union for 25 years.
Survivors include eight children, Judy (Roger) Robinson, Algoma; Larry (Debby) Chaudoir, Mandeville, LA; Barbara (Daniel) Van De Hey, The Villages, FL; Gary (Patty) Chaudoir, Sister Bay; Ted (Dee) Chaudoir, Brussels; Mary Chaudoir (Steve Krieger) Pearl River, NY; Bill (Cheryl) Chaudoir, Sturgeon Bay; Terry (Linda) Chaudoir, Madison; Daughter in law, Judy Chaudoir, Suamico; 16 Grandchildren, 9 Great grandchildren and two Great, Great Grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Joyce) Baudhuin, Casco; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Tom; and a grandson, Jerry; five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be Friday, May 4, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. at Forbes Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. St. Francis and St. Mary Parish Brussels, the Rev. Pius Cotter officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Forbes Funeral Home and then after 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services at the funeral home. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Unity Hospice or Namur Belgian Hertiage Foundation, formerly St. Mary’s church.
